Mr Wahls is the straight son of a gay couple. He is an intelligent and well spoken young man whose defense of the family unit proves that he understands what family actually means. He understands that family is more than a piece of paper given by the government to try and prove legitimacy. His family does not need legitimacy for any government to prove that they are a good, honest and law abiding unit. What he wants, what all gay families want is to be treated as any other union of two people, who love each other, are treated under the laws of our land.

"I guess the point is that our family isn't so different than any other Iowa family," he says in the clip. "When I'm home, we go to church together, we eat dinner, we go on vacations."
"We're Iowans, we don't don't expect anyone to solve our problems for us, we'll fight our own battles. We just hope for equal and fair treatment from our government."
Those two statements, by Mr Wahls, sum up his point and should be enough to turn peoples thinking around. Both are honest and straight forward. Both are presented without malice toward anyone.
I have never understood the vitriol spewed against groups, in our country, just because they are different than what some 'stick up their ass' religious or social group thinks is the 'right' way to live your life.
Yes kiddies, Mr Wahls lets the bigots off easy. They are not so lucky with me.
Churches are having problems filling their pews with the younger generations, I believe , because of their archaic and misguided stance on a myriad of issues. The Catholic ministry are molesting children at an alarming rate. The Protestants ministry is being found in the beds of prostitutes or running around trying to get grandma to give up her life savings to build 'glass and gold cathedrals' that God probably scoffs at. Moslem's are suppressing the rights of women.
No religion is in a position to dictate how anyone should live their lives considering the baggage that they haul around.
But they have the 'balls' to stand themselves up as a beacon of 'rightousness' to the world and try and dictate the course of our lives. They pressure 'politicians' to vote against any issue that would give a sense of legitimacy to any group that they have set themselves up to falsely judge.
These cowardly politicians, who are on their knees to the religious groups pandering for votes, use issues like 'same sex marriage' as volleyballs in a misguided attempt to keep an issue hot and their worthless, inept and incompetent butts in office.
Kiddies think about how you would feel if the tables were turned. If you had to fight for 'heterosexual marriage'. If you were told that your opposite sex marriage and the children it produced are not a 'family'.
I believe that you would be screaming for 'ligitimacy'. I believe you would pray to have a Zach Wahl on your side!!!!!!!
