Drama~~~The Enemy of Every Second Life Woman!! Funny That!!

I have always found it quite strange that so many female profiles, in Second Life,  contain the 'No Drama Please Statement'.  I find it puzzling because, by nature, we woman attract drama in all forms and that many of us, at least at times(and I include myself in this), thrive on it.

The following is one such statement. This one I found particularly entertaining.

I luv drama... I adore being asked by strangers if I want to have sex... and I am the 'soulmate" of every man I meet! :))  OK..reality time... yes your ass DOES look huge in that dress,  NO I don't want to have sex with u-esp if u need poseballs... I run from drama as I would from a pack of rabid porcupines - I haven't found many men in sl I would want for a soul mate. I'm sassy, classy, naughty, sarcastic, cheeky, funny, needy, greedy and sexy.  Interested??  IM me.. make me laff and I might keep u *winks*

I so want to become the friend of this woman, lol. In this statement; she has managed to roll so many feelings, that Second Life woman have, into a few short sentences. The TRUTH(refer to yesterday's blog) of what she writes is glaring here.

I read this and I see a 'List Of Rules For Second Life Dating', forming in my little brain.

1. Do not date any one that has been in Second Life less than 12 months. I believe that with a 12 month floor for being in SL; you may well get someone that has found interests inworld beyond the partying.

2. Read and study a persons profile carefully. Profiles reveal so much information about someone. Learn to read between the lines of profiles. What is not written may well be more important than what is actually written.

3. Spend at least 3 months with a person before saying yes to their proposal. Get to know them as well as you possibly can. Try very hard not to become one of those people that manage to find a partner and lose them in a week.

4. Be weary of people who have partnered multiple times. Of course there are exceptions. People leave Second Life all the time with and without explanation. That can not be held against any one.

5. Second Life can be an amazing place with untold numbers of things to do and share while dating. Find someone that wants to share the entire Second Life experience with you.

I am sure that there are many other rules that can be written. This is just a good start.

Drama is a fact in any life. Totally avoiding it is next to impossible. I have caused it and I have friends who have caused it. But with some people it is an everyday occurrence. They seem to thrive on it. I can only tolerate them, as I am sure you can, for a short time. My mechanism for eliminating drama from my life is AVOIDANCE. I will admit that avoidance is not a good way to handle drama. It may even be the cowards way out. Confronting it is the way. But avoidance is so much easier.

Usually avoiding drama comes back to bite my ass at some point. The key here is to keep my ass moving so they can not get a clear shot at it.

                                                     Pictures of me avoiding drama,lol.

See you on the grid,,

Truth~~Not An Abslute Concept!!

I have been having a lot of thoughts about 'Truth' lately. When any person puts pen to paper; what they write can become the truth if it is read by enough people and then repeated. I guess it is what makes a legend a legend. Each person passing on some writing or story until it takes on a life of its own. I believe that this possibility places a heavy burden on those who proclaim themselves writers.

By profession; I am a writer of fiction. What fiction writers do is weave a story that is meant to entertain. We twist fact into our stories to give some authenticity to what we write. An example would be, for anyone reading my Sunday book chapters, is my placement of locations into the story. I employ the use of real locations intertwining them with fictional business'.

The battle for any fiction writer is to make what they mean to be as a source of entertainment; does not become someones truth. There have been incidents of people emulating fictitious characters in their real lives.

“You can bend it and twist it... You can misuse and abuse it... But even God cannot change the Truth.” ~~Michael Levy

What I am saying here is that whenever you pick up anything to read, especially if there is question as to the writers intent to fiction or actual occurrence; read it with a leaning toward skepticism, then give it thought, then apply YOUR real life experience to it and then, and only then, give it credence as truth, or fiction or total bunk.

"Do what you want and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind, and those who mind, don't matter. ~~Unknown

In some ways this quote is true but painting any one's opinion with such a broad brush is particularly disturbing. Reading anything is meant to make you think. It is written to elicit some emotion. To not care if people get upset about what might be your truth is wrong. This single concept is why we have so much friction between religions. If writers want to expound upon truth as they see it; with good conscience they need to take into account the thoughts and feelings of others. Of course some writers write to bring on that SHOCK effect. After all; does that not sell more books?

I will leave you with two quotes to ponder. Remember; read with skepticism, think and then apply your real life experience. Then decide the truth of it for yourself.

“A thing is not necessarily true because a man dies for it.” ~~Oscar Wilde

"True words are not always pretty, pretty words are not always true." ~~Unknown

You will figure out the truth as it applies to you. After all; truth resides within all of us. It just has to be nurtured with thought and brought to maturity with decent and moral actions.

Love ya,

Success~~~What Does It Take!!

What does it take to be successful? For that matter what is success?

There are a number of meanings attached to the word success. Two dictionary definitions follow:

1.  the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors.
2.  the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like.

In plain simple language; success is doing something in your life or with your life that improves or affects ones own environment in a positive way. I would describe ones own environment as every thing around you including the people you come in contact with or effect in some way.  So in the Global Environment; that means everyone on earth.  Yes, I see it in your eyes! How can  I effect someone thousands of mile away? How do I improve someone else's life if I have never met them?

Look at the definitions the dictionary provides us. The glaring theme there is a monetary success. Well just sharing your acquired wealth through charities or directly will effect other people. You are already successful through personal achievement and now the fruits of your success are reaching out to others.

WAIT!! Is having financial success the only way to be successful? In the Global Society we find ourselves living in; that seems the case for many people. I beg to differ. Your bank account balance does not make you a successful human being.  There would be so few successful human beings wandering around if that were true.

And of course you all know I have examples.

In Fayetteville, North Carolina there lives a man that we all call 'The Bicycle Man'.  He is not wealthy. He does not live in a beautiful home. He works a normal 9 to 5 job; or at least did as I believe he has retired on a small pension now. All year long, this man collects old bicycles and repairs them. People actually donate their old bicycles to him now. At Christmas, and other times of year, he gives bicycles to children who do not have them. Because, as he says, "Every child should have a bicycle". Is he a success? Oh Hell Yes!!! As much or more of a success than Donald Trump will ever be.

In Amsterdam, Holland there lives a nurse, that by profession alone, is successful. Not monetarily but morally. For many years she worked in a terminal ward of a children's hospital. A job, I believe, no nurse would relish having. So in her spare time she collected children clothes, furniture and other children's necessities and sold them on eBay. The money she collected from those sales were shared between 4 or 5 needy families living near her. All the money. Even when she was down on her luck financially. Is she a success? I will say it again,,,Oh Hell Yes!! I am happy to say that I share my second Life with her.

I have made a considerable amount of money in my lifetime. Spanning 3 career changes in my 33 years of life. But not one second of that time have I ever been as successful as these people. I envy them and am very proud to know them.

My favorite quote about success comes from Reba McEntire. It gives a nice perspective to living a successful life.

To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funnybone. ~~Reba McEntire

Finally; if you can dream of a successful endeavor, no matter what that may entail, you can find a way to do it. BUT!!! Dreaming of it is just the first step. To be successful you must go from the dream to ACTION. Because a dream without action is, well, just a dream.

“Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.” ~~Karen Ravn

Nights Dance To Day~~~Chapter 7

Chapter 7

I met Pete Flanery at his apartment after getting back to the city. We both knew that the job was not done. Not until Johnny Martin was dealt with once and for all. He was a loose end that needed to be cleaned up.

“Where is Keane?”, Pete
“I sent him home with Franny. The rest I can handle alone.”
"Look, I got Erik to give up Martin’s real home address. It’s a two man job. I’m coming.”, Pete.
“I don’t want to drag you in this any farther than I already have.”
“I’m in! Shut up, reload and get some rest. Your going to need it.”, Pete.

Martin’s house was in the small village of Sands Point, NY on Long Island. The guy was living the good life just 25 miles from the city. Raising a family and acting like the upright citizen he wanted everyone to see. He hid the scum bag he was behind PTA meetings and church events. The good guy citizen, loved by everyone. No one suspected what he really was.

Sands Point was a tough place to grab Martin. Even parking without a permit was a suspicious act. Surveillance was a nightmare. We rented two cars and drove around the village to get the lay of the land. We split the town in half and each spent about an hour driving around looking for entrance and exit points we could exploit. Martin’s neighborhood was full of kids playing outside and people walking around. Police patrols were frequent. There was no place to get at him in Sands Point without drawing to much attention.

Pete and I met in Port Washington, just down the road from Sands Point. A decision was made to follow Martin from his house back to the city and get a feel for his route and routine. By now he knew what had occurred at his Connecticut hideout; he would be in the alert.

Pete did the surveillance on Martin; following him from Long Island back to Brooklyn and to his club. I stood watch at the club and waited. Both of us looking for some entry point to get at Martin.

Keane had called me several times; I had ignored the calls. The same message every time; “Where are you? When will you come home?” The first question I did not want to answer. The second I had no idea how to answer. All I knew was that I no longer wanted Keane involved. This had to be all on me now. If it went south; I would find a way to get Pete clear of everything and take the blame myself.

I called Keane and filled him in on what I wanted him to know; keeping the rest to myself. I told him I would get home as soon as possible.

Pete and I met the two days later to compare notes. We both knew that this was going to be tough and dangerous. I told Pete that there was heavy activity at Steam and getting to him there was going to be impossible. We already knew that a move in Sands Point was out.

Pete said that Martin was traveling with two body guards. Professionals this time. But there was a place that they stopped for coffee after crossing into Port Washington . There was a coffee shop on the corner where Shore Road met Main Street. They bought coffee there every morning and then sat in Sunset Park, across the street from the coffer shop, and drank the coffee while Martin made cell phone calls he obviously could not make from home.

We would hit them there.

My Friend Charli!! My Inspiration!!

She was the Second Life partner of my friend Jackie. She is my friend and has been for nearly 4 years. I loved our little talks and occasional dances. Our trips to the nudey beach to tan our pixels were always fun and funny.

One day Jackie told me that Charli had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and had to take time away from Second Life. I completely understood this need for rest as I also suffer from CFS. Have for many years and am just over another fight with it.

Charli came back to Second Life just as we were starting our first Relay For Life of Second Life campaign.  Back when we were called Fey's Angels; an all girls team. Charli jumped right in and was with us every step of the way. She was a driving force on our team that year. Unfortunately it was her only year with the team. Soon after the campaign finished Charli took more time off for rest. We all assumed it was for the CFS.

Of course it was not CFS. She had been diagnosed with cancer. All that time keeping it to herself and helping us. Can you imagine how hard that had to be. Everyday hearing people talk about it. Attending every event. Standing fore front of the team and being a driving force. And all that time knowing what she knew.

Sorry; I cry when ever I think about her. I do not hear much from her anymore. An occasional email. Truthfully; I am not sure she is actually writing them anymore, They seem kind of formal.  Charli is in Hospice near the end. Funny, crying for someone that I have never actually met or touched or held. But all of us Second Lifers, and Relayers in particular, understand the feelings and friendships we make in SL.

I get kind of bitchy during Relay. I never seem to be able to do enough. I think all Relayers feel that way. When I had my first bout with CFS; my doctor would always tell me, "Lana put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. Not fast, just forward.".

That's my advice to my RFL team, SL Cure Chasers. "One foot In front of the other and keep moving forward." It is how I live my life.  It is how I see Charli living out the rest of hers.

Your loved Charlotte. At my side every time I attend an RFL event. Thank you for making me a better person.

EGYPT!!! I Just Can Not Keep My Mouth Shut Anymore!!

A People's Right To Self Determination!!!

I am an American. I love being an American. I love my freedoms and all the opportunities that freedom affords me. Freedom is not cheap. Freedom is not given freely. Someone paid for it so that I could enjoy it. Someone stood up and said "No More Of This Oppression!"  That someone gave me the opportunity to attain  the American Dream. After 200 years the American Dream is there for all of us if we are willing to work for it.

I Love My Freedom!!!  I Want The Reality Of Freedom and Self Determination To Be There For Everyone!!

All week I have watched the people of Egypt pour into the streets crying for what so many Americans now take for granted. The look on their faces are no different than the look that must have been on the faces of our fore fathers at Concord and Lexington when the first shots were fired to give us our freedom. I see the end of fear of their government. Once fear of ones own government is overcome; a grasp for freedom will follow. Thomas Jefferson know that over 200 years ago.

"When the government fears the people, that is liberty. When the people fear the government, that is tyranny."~Thomas Jefferson

And Benjamin Franklin knew it over 200 years ago.

"Those who would trade freedom for security, rarely get either and deserve neither."~Benjamin Franklin

I would ask Egyptians to look to the words of Gandhi for guidance and hope.

~ "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."  ~ Gandhi ~

I am one of the many FREEDOM LOVING PEOPLE OF THE WORLD; that stand shoulder to shoulder with you in your quest for a free and happy life for yourselves and your decedents.

PS.....BTW,,,all quotes in today's blog were found in second Life.

The Avatar Choice!! What to be!! What to be!!

There are so many choices of what kind of avatar you can in Second Life. We all start out with human avatars and once inworld the decision as to how we want to be perceived jumps to the fore front. So many choices for avatar looks or avatar lifestyles exist.

Personally; I am happy with my human look. But I have friends that are happy with other looks and because this is Second Life; we all just blend in together.

An example for those of you who are not Second Lifers.  Last night I was at Roller Derby practice. You heard right; Roller Derby,,,anything is possible in Second Life.  My Team is made up of some 24 women; all I believe with human avatars. The team we were practicing with was made up of human and Goth avatars.  Sitting in the stands was a DJ who is a FOX. No silly not like a foxy female human. I male Fox. And cute even.

Guess What??? We all had fun. So Kiddies that is SL; so many different people, in so many different forms enjoying time together.  It's one of the many reasons I love SL and have stayed almost 4 years. Sure some people let some of their Real life prejudice seep into their SL character. But those are in a very small minority and are shouted down when ever they rear that part of there personality.

One of my favorite Characters is a giant rabbit that works his soft little tail off for Relay For Life of Second Life. In the RFL effort every year; we have humans, furriers, vampires, Gors, Goths, dragons, horses, Nekkos and numerous other life forms participating side by side and enjoying every minute of it. That's Second Life. In many ways life inside of SL is simpler and easier to live than Real life.

I found this quote last night. Love things that make me smile.

*You know you're a Furry when your girlfriend says, "I'll fix you!" and you grab your nuts and  run like hell*

God I love Second Life!! Why are you not inworld with me!!!

Some Housekeeping:::::

In response to a critic of yesterdays blog on God's existence, lesbianism and a women's place in the scheme of things; I give you a quote that I have been saving for just such occasion;;;

"Well behaved women rarely make history"~Marrilynn Monroe
