A Jew, a Muslim and a Christian walk into a lecture on Monotheism; what do they have to argue about?
An interesting question when put in the context of a belief in one God. So why do they hate each other? Why does each want to one up the other? Why do they all do evil in the name of God?
When we talk about Judaism, Islam and Christianity we are speaking about religions that believe in not only one God but the same God. There differences are not in the belief of God but in the way each interprets the words of their Prophets as to how Gods worship should be conducted. I get that this is a simple explanation. I want it to be simple. Simple is good and complicated is what has brought us to take a beautiful experience, the worship of God, to a point that three armed camps are killing each other over the 'how' that worship should be accomplished.
The 'Waring Religions', my term for Judaism, Islam and Christianity, are pathetic in their attempt to do the two things all religions should teach their subscribers and that is the teaching of Tolerance for others beliefs and Love of their fellow man. Why is that so hard?
Do you see a pattern here? The pattern is that I ask more questions than offer up solutions. In my mind the solution is quite simple and one that I did myself. One that brought me peace and reconciled my belief in one God for all beings. But you are not going to like it! You are going to yell at me, condemn me, put out fatwas against me, excommunicate me, shun me and call me a mad man but it worked for me.
Here goes! Looks over my shoulder and prepares to be attacked.
BAG THE PROPHETS AND ALL THE BOOKS OF WORSHIP AND JUST BELIEVE IN GOD!!
Eliminate the Prophets and the Books and what do we have left? GOD! GOD! GOD!
I told you it was simple.
Put aside the madness of thousands of years of religious zeal and put all that effort and all that energy into GOD.
Do you really need a label on your beliefs? Do you really need someone, anyone telling you how best to worship God? Do you really need someone who claims to speak for God to preach to you about your life in Gods worship?
Can we not all speak to God ourselves? I do every day. Do I get an answer when I speak with Him?
Maybe!
I talk, He listens and somehow we work out what ever needs working out. It seems so simple to me.
The unfortunate thing about religion, no matter what sect you subscribe to, is that humans are involved. We can take something so wonderful and screw it up in a heartbeat.
The real sickness in the human spirit is our misguided ability to bastardize our own beliefs into something we can not live with and then, after destroying our own beliefs, we blame that destruction on someone else because we disagree with the day of the week they choose to worship or how they profess their love for the same God we love.
I would urge everyone to leave the 'Waring Religions' and toss off the labels placed on you by them and come to God of your own accord.
One On One~~God Rocks!!

Arsenic And Old Rice
OK! I admit that the title is a bit cheesy, lol. But if you have not seen the movie or play 'Arsenic and Old Lace' go see it soon. It is a classic.
Lately there has been many articles written about arsenic found in American grown rice. I have taken particular interest because since I started a 'whole foods diet' my rice consumption has increased tremendously.
So here is the story about how arsenic got into our rice supply. It has been found that rice grown in the southeastern states has a higher arsenic content than rice grown in other parts of the United States but it seems that most rice has some arsenic content, especially brown rice.
For many years, in the south, we used an arsenic based insecticide on our cotton plants. It just so happens that the states that were the largest cotton producers were also the largest producers of rice. The FDA finally made arsenic based insecticides illegal but it takes 40 years for all traces of the insecticide to leave the soil.
So how did the arsenic move from the cotton fields to the rice paddy's? The key is in arsenic's property of solubility in water. Yes, arsenic is soluble in water. So through the process of normal rain arsenic is washed from the soil and sent into the water filled rice fields where it is absorbed readily by the rice plants.
Rice holds a majority of the absorbed arsenic in its outer layer which is removed when rice is refined into white rice. This is why brown rice contains more arsenic as it is unrefined.
I would imagine that one would have to eat a lot of brown rice to be adversely affected by the arsenic content and warnings are now being issued.
I love brown rice but I have changed back to white rice as a precaution. Sometimes what is better for us may not be all that good for us.

What If The Sandal Was On The Other Foot?~`Where is The Christian Outrage?
The Muslim World is in an uproar over a movie and its depiction of the Prophet Mohammad and well they should be as no one has a right to bastardize any religion for any reason. My disgust with this situation is threefold.
The first is that someone used his First Amendment Rights to make this vile movie. The spreading of lies and innuendo in an attempt to make and defend an indefensible point is a pointless exercise. I understand the outrage of Muslims world wide and sympathize them but they fail to understand the freedoms that they have been fighting for during The Arab Spring.
With all the good that our Constitution guarantees us there is some bad that comes with it. Tolerance for idiots and morons, like those involved with this movie, is a price we pay for our First Amendment Rights.
A few years ago some low life made a cross, either covered in poop or made of poop, under the guise of ART. I hated it even though I am not a Christian but I accepted it because of this cretins right to his own form of free speech. My real problem was that it was done under a grant that used our tax dollars to fund this literal piece of shit.
Christians were outraged but not to the extent that Muslims are this week. The difference is how each of them looks at their respective religions. Which brings me to my second point.
Where is the Christian outrage over this movie? Why have we not heard from the leaders of the Christian World condemning this film and supporting Muslims in their disgust?
What if the sandal was on the other foot and someone made a movie denigrating Christ. If I told you that Jesus Christ was a whore monger who slept with prostitutes, like Mary Magdalen, every night while leaving his wife(new information has come to light that Jesus may well have had a wife) home with the kids. Would that stir some outrage?
How about this for an outrage producer; Jesus Christ was such an alcohol abuser that he , upon finding a shortage of wine at a wedding, changed water into wine so he and his twelve fraternity brothers could continue to get loaded and molest the bridesmaids. Would that get you upset?
Not upset yet? Lets push you over the edge. At the last supper there is an effeminate looking man in the painting. Postulation is that it may be a woman. I think its a gay male who was the bed warmer for Jesus while they were on long road trips. You know a little something to keep Jesus happy when they traveled without their usual female groupies.
Are you pissed off yet? I can go on all day bastardizing the life of Jesus Christ but I don't think it's necessary. Do you?
Of course all of what I just said was bullshit. But it is no different than the bullshit spread by this idiotic movie.
Step up Christians!! You should be in lock step with Muslims condemning this movie and those who made it.
Finally!! Are we so naive to believe that a movie is the root cause of all this unrest and loss of life? Are we so naive to believe that these events coincided with the 9/11 anniversary and have nothing to do with that anniversary?
I believe that there are factions of Radical Islam that have been waiting for something just like this to strike at us. We may not think much of Osama Bin Laden but to much of the Muslim World he was a rock star. Radical Islam has been waiting to avenge his death. Those who think otherwise are living in a bubble.
Every thinking human, no matter what religious affiliation you claim as your own, should be outraged by this movie and should be publicly saying so. Anyone can, and I am sure will, make a movie denigrating any religion. Speak up now and just maybe they will think twice about doing something against your beliefs.
So I say again; Where is the Christian outrage?

Democratic National Convention And Nipples~~A Difficult Choice?
I know that I should be writing about the Democratic National Convention but as a writer of fiction I find it difficult to compete with the fiction being created in Charlotte North Carolina this week. Besides hundreds of other bloggers are hammering away on both sides of that subject and trying to either separate fact from fiction or protect the 'greatest fiction story ever told' about Obama's record.
Another story, of much greater importance than the DNC's circus act, has been developing since yesterday and it has grabbed my attention like a pair of DD's flopping around bra less in the morning breeze.
Why Do Men Have Nipples?
Of course there is a simple explanation, which I will explain, and then there is a more complicated theory that I have developed through exhausted research and study.
Scientists will tell you that embryonic development of nipples occurs at about five and a half weeks while sex designation occurs at six weeks. That half week lead time puts nipples on men that are useless for breast feeding but, as many woman will attest to, fun to play with and stimulate.
So much for science, lol. Now to the real story.
It seems many thousands of years ago, in a land I call Liberalcosmopolis, children were born into a society that only bottle fed as the anatomy of the people of this land was nipple less. Through a period of many years this society raised children to become responsible and productive adults with little thought as to early feeding techniques.
This was a society of free thinkers who believed that the governing body had the responsibility to raise all children born, provide all the needs of society and allowed no man to rise above another. This society seemed to thrive under its programs until some religious groups, with the help of rogue scientists, began to question the less than intimate way babies were being nourished.
These groups, including the all powerful Church of The Le Leche and The Church of the International Worshipers of Lactation, believed that babies should be fed from the parents themselves and not an impersonal cold glass or plastic bottle.
The rogue scientists who joined this movement, with consultation from the church leaders, decided that a method should be developed to allow babies to feed like 'beasts of the fields' through a nipple system similar to those beasts.
The problem was that to accomplish this a course of genetic engineering had to be instituted and the important question to be answered was whether the mother, father or both would be the feeding parent. It was decided that experimentation would be done on both males and females to assess which was more capable of this feeding task.
Over a period of 25 years nipple development was introduced into the population but because of some anatomical differences between men and women, only the women were able to lactate and therefore provide nourishment. This left men with useless nipples and left women to their imagination as to what to do with them.
Soon, as societies started to intermingle and travel became more common place, nipple development was seen in far off lands and eventually became the rule rather than the exception.
This is my story and I am sticking to it, lol.
By the way, Man Boobs are a side effect, of the original genetic engineering, still seen today.

Unemployment Is A Bitch
Here in The United States we bemoan our 8% unemployment rate like it is the end of the world. While it is quite serious we find ourselves in much better shape than other countries that are suffering along with us.
Normally I would not give unemployment a second thought but with the possibility of Obama being re-elected and his penchant for making us into the Europe of The Western Hemisphere I am concerned where such a course would take us.
While in the United States Army I lived in Europe for two and a half years and loved it and its people but even back in the 70's I could see looming problems in some countries. I realize that Europeans do not understand us and most of us do not understand them but frictions between countries is a government to government issue not a person to person issue.
I can easily sympathize with Europe's unemployment crises as I would never want to experience what they are going through. I hear talk about recessions but what I see in some of the unemployment rates depression may be a better word to describe their condition.
Unemployment Rates In Europe:
Ireland 14%
Lithuania 15%
Latvia 15%
Georgia 16%
Greece 17%
Croatia 18%
Spain 22%
Serbia 23%
Bosnia 45%
Kosovo 45%
These numbers are staggering and we should count our blessings when reading them. At its height The Great Depression hit 25% in 1933. I can not even begin to imagine how devastating that time must have been to those who lived through it. I can not imagine the pain of those in these European countries today.
There are solutions to these problems but the unfortunate thing is that the solutions have to come from governments acting in unison with each other. Not an easy task indeed.
Some how if this was a problem that could be solved on a person to person basis we would all be the better for it.
